The State Board of Education recently adopted its 2006-2011 Comprehensive Plan, entitled A Superior Education for Connecticut’s 21st Century Learners. This Plan will emphasize three priority areas of education: high quality preschool education for all students, high academic achievement of all students in reading, writing, mathematics, and science, and the reform of Connecticut’s high schools. For each priority, the Plan presents the rationale, actions and outcomes.
The following is an excerpt from the State Board of Education Comprehensive Plan:
Our plan is straightforward, pushing Connecticut to set and maintain high academic standards for teaching and learning, advocating for the critical resources needed, and engaging key stakeholders to invest in our greatest asses. We must continue to build on recent progress. Where current approaches are not working we must work strategically with educators, families, communities and businesses to generate new ones.
We must create a world-class education system for all Connecticut students – one that respects the uniqueness of every child and enables all students to succeed at high levels.
