EDUCATION LEADERS DISCUSS FUTURE OF CONNECTICUT STUDENTS IN PRESS CONFERENCE AT THE CAPITAL

Event:          “What Will Our Children Lose?” Press Conference

When:          Thursday, January 6, 2011, 10:30AM – 11:30AM

Where:        Legislative Office Building: Room 1A

300 Capitol Avenue

Hartford, CT 06106

The Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE), Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents (CAPSS) and Connecticut Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) will be holding a joint press conference in Room 1A at the Legislative Office Building to launch the initiative, “What Will Our Children Lose?”, which aims to encourage the State to fill the 14% gap in Educational Cost Share (ECS) created as Federal Stimulus Funding, which will run out this spring.  Leaders of all three organizations will be discussing the resulting losses to children in Connecticut’s school districts if ECS is not, at the very least, flat-funded for 2011-12.  In addition, the unveiling of a new website will be announced, with much information on the affect of the possible cuts to individual school districts.

The What Will Our Children Lose? Campaign was created by the collaborative efforts of CABE, CAPSS, and CASBO. As advocates for public education, these organizations pledge to provide information to the community and statewide education leaders in order to find attainable results for their school districts.

Q & A Session immediately following the presser.
