4th Annual Technology Conference

Prepares Future Teachers to Be Competitive

In Bridgeport, scholars are preparing for a future where they can give back to their communities. Today’s Students Tomorrow’s Teachers (TSTT) is a career development mentoring program that recruits and trains high school students for college and a rewarding teaching career. TSTT was designed to address the growing shortage of teachers, in particular, teachers of color.  Upon receipt of teacher certification, TSTT students pledge to return to the classroom as teachers and role models in their communities.

On, Tuesday, December 14, 2010, the 4th Annual Technology Conference was held at Tisdale School. Future teachers learned how current technology tools are being integrated into effective teaching methods. This one-day conference helped prepare TSTT students to be competitive 21st century teachers.

Making the Holiday a Success

Central High School Choral Department performs at Success Village's Holiday Luncheon

On December 20, 2010, students from the Central High School Choral Department performed at Success Village’s Holiday Luncheon.  The invitation to perform was extended to the choir by Success Village Manager, Jerome Alexander.

The production, “Shapin’ Up Santa,” featured Central High School students from grades 9-12 and all members from all 4 choirs.  Success Village residents, as well as 638 students from the Bridgeport Public School district lined up to watch the production and celebrate the season. Some of the schools that reserved seats were: Blackham, Johnson, Multicultural, High Horizons, Columbus, Luis Munoz Marin, Hallen and Madison.  It was an exciting time for all involved!

One resident of Success Village, Vicki (pictured above with students) shared with the students that she had been a school teacher for over 35 years, and was moved to tears by both the sight of and sound of the choir. It brought back many wonderful memories for her.  The students were amazed when they found out that Vicki recently celebrated her 94th birthday!
